Position Overview:

At our organization, you will play a pivotal role in our operations, ensuring efficient and cost-effective procurement processes. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will collaborate with internal teams and external partners, utilizing your expertise to optimize purchasing strategies and enhance our supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive research and evaluation of vendors and suppliers, considering factors such as price, quality, availability, reliability, and technical support.
  • Ensure timely delivery of goods and services, aligning with company requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including sales, bids, operations, and logistics, to determine purchasing needs and requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels, preventing stockouts and overstocking.
  • Analyze market trends and pricing, ensuring competitive sourcing and pricing strategies.
  • Cultivate and nurture strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Maintain meticulous records of purchases, pricing, and delivery dates.
  • Utilize purchasing data analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize procurement processes.
  • Adhere to and implement procurement policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.

Required Skills:

  • At least 3 years of purchasing experience preferrably out of food distribution.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software systems.
  • Knowledge of procurement regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a buyer or purchasing agent.
