Best known for the creation and development of Miami Lakes, a 3,000-acre master-planned community, the family-owned and operated company maintains being the largest landowner in the Town of Miami Lakes through apartment, office, industrial, retail, and hospitality holdings. Keeping to our roots, The Graham Companies continues to be involved in the agriculture business with dairy, beef, and pecan orchard farming located in Moore Haven, Florida, and Southwest Georgia.

We are looking for a results-driven and confident Assistant Controller to manage and improve Graham Residential’s processes and direct accounting functions. Your exceptional numerical proficiency, strong analytical competencies, ability to solve problems quickly, and use of technology will aid Graham Residential in reporting operating results quickly and efficiently.

In this role, you will

  • Manage all aspects of accounting, managerial, and financial reporting for the Residential Division.
  • Responsible for designing and implementing sound internal controls as it relates to Purchasing, Fixed Assets, Inventory, General Accounting, and Financial Reporting.
  • Ensures accuracy and completeness for monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting.
  • Develops internal procedures to improve workflow inefficiencies.
  • Oversees inventory management policies and procedures to enhance efficiency, accuracy and cost effectiveness.
  • Maintain documented system of accounting policies, procedures, and operations.
  • Works closely with the Real Estate Controller and Portfolio Manager and Development and Finance Manager of the Residential Division to monitor and gather activity data, analyze trends, and prepare analytical and statistical reports.
  • Assists with the preparation, administration and oversight of Division’s annual operational budget, as assigned.
  • Assists with monthly, quarterly, and annual variance analysis.
  • Supervises and guides staff as it relates to sound accounting practices and procedures.
  • Serves as liaison to internal and external auditors, by providing workpapers as required and coordinating data requests as needed.
  • Works with Company departments to understand accounting and reporting business needs, and develops solutions as appropriate, including coordination of appropriate projects with the Accounting Department and Graham Residential.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and three (3) years of related experience.
  • Master’s degree in accounting or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred.
  • Real Estate Property Management accounting experience preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills; experience in accounting software and Microsoft Office.
  • Yardi experience is a plus.
  • Exceptional knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), tax laws and financial reporting requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to work well with senior executives and team, as well as mentor/lead other team members.
  • Ability to supervise, train and develop employees.

Location

  • This role will be an office-based position in Miami Lakes, Florida.
  • Some work-from-home is acceptable but may be eliminated in the future.
