Job Title: Assistant Controller - Hotel Experience a Must

Reports To: Controller

FLSA Status: Exempt

Introduction: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Controller to join our dynamic team in the hospitality industry. As the Assistant Controller, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health and operational efficiency of our hotel. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of our property while advancing your career in hotel finance management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, monitor variances, and provide insightful analysis to management.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee the processing of invoices, manage accounts receivable collections, and ensure timely payments to vendors.
  • Payroll Management: Review payroll processing, ensure accuracy, and compliance with wage and hour regulations.
  • Internal Controls: Implement and monitor internal control procedures to safeguard hotel assets and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Tax Compliance: Work closely with external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns and compliance with tax regulations.
  • Audit Coordination: Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits, provide necessary documentation, and address audit findings.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making, identify trends, and recommend actions to improve financial performance.
  • Cash Management: Manage cash flow and liquidity to meet operational needs and optimize returns on surplus funds.
  • Financial Systems: Maintain and enhance financial systems and procedures to support efficient financial operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in hotel accounting or hospitality finance.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, M3 Accounting Core)
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (e.g., (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Experience with BirchStreet, ADP, Stayntouch, ONQ, Opera, or M3 Insight is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and GAAP principles.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and prepare concise reports.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
