Security Engineer

Evolver is seeking a Security Engineer. Role can be remote, however will need to be able to support the primary team in Pacific Time zone.

The Security Engineer will be responsible for working with our various teams to ensure our hybrid cloud applications and infrastructure are operational and secure. This position will be a primary resource to providing guidance on best practices and recommendations for the various platforms. A successful candidate for this position must possess both a deep and wide background in systems engineering, email security, information security and networking applied across a wide breadth of technologies spanning both solutions built on traditional platforms, such as Windows, Linux Servers, and VMware infrastructure, and more modern cloud deployments in Infrastructure as Code, DevOps, Azure/M365.

As a key member of the security engineering team, the candidate should be comfortable with driving technical ideas and communicating clearly with technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing/Assisting with the following platforms:
    • Email Security
    • Multifactor Authentication
    • Public Key Infrastructure
    • Endpoint security
    • Cloud Based SAAS applications
    • Security Automation
  • Assist in troubleshooting operational issues that may arise.
  • Participate as lead for security project initiatives
  • Develop and maintain operational documentation
  • Provide technical oversight for systems and projects that are required to be reliable, highly available, compliant, and maintainable.
  • Introduce best practices and principles to enable consistent delivery and enable alignment with long-term direction.
  • Foster development best practices within the team.
  • Identify and drive process improvements.
  • Facilitate communication with cross-functional groups.
  • Work directly with project development teams to enable successful project implementation applying the recommended security tools, technologies and techniques. Provide expertise to project team engineers as needed.
  • Stay up to date on new tools and techniques in the information security space.
  • Conduct proof of concept activities with key business users in support of advanced use cases.

Basic Qualifications

  • 15 years of experience implementing, supporting, and troubleshooting mixture of hardware and software technologies.
  • 7 years of experience working with Active Directory and the Windows Operating Systems and have a solid understanding of each
  • 7 years of experience building and supporting one or more solutions with the following technologies:
  • Azure and M365 Security
  • Email infrastructure
  • Virtualization
  • Endpoint Security
  • Automation and scripting
  • Systems Infrastructure
  • Cloud based architecture/solutions
  • 7 years of working knowledge of Security Best Practices:
    • At Rest
    • In Flight
    • In Use
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related degree from an accredited university or 10 years related working experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience working with Active Directory and the Windows Operating Systems and have a solid understanding of each
  • 10 years of experience building and supporting one or more solutions with the following technologies:
    • Azure and M365 Security
    • Email infrastructure
    • Virtualization
    • Endpoint Security
    • Automation and scripting
    • Systems Infrastructure
    • Cloud based architecture/solutions
    • Solid understanding of Networking fundamentals
    • Working experience with Network Security
  • 10 years of working knowledge of Security Best Practices:
    • At Rest
    • In Flight
    • In Use
  • Experience with encryption technologies and techniques.
  • Solid understanding of Networking fundamentals
  • Working experience with Network Security
  • Understand Risk Models and analyze security weaknesses in complex technology deployments.
  • Experience working with product teams on specifying Secure Application Requirements.
  • Experience with Financial Services systems is considered a plus.
  • Certifications in the following are a plus: Azure Certifications, Microsoft Systems Engineer, SANS Certificates
