Assistant Billing Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The candidate will support the Billing Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the billing and finance department. This role requires a deep understanding of medical billing practices, coding systems, and excellent organizational skills to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of the revenue cycle management process.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES:
- Assist in the management of daily billing operations.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of claims to insurance providers.
- Work closely with the Billing Manager to provide guidance and support to the billing department.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration with multiple ACT teams to enhance overall efficiency.
- Stay informed about changes in medical coding regulations and assist in ensuring compliance.
- Participate in regular coding audits to verify accuracy and adherence to industry standards.
- Support the implementation of strategies to minimize billing errors and denials.
- Contribute to the optimization of the revenue cycle from charge entry to payment posting.
- Collaborate with the Billing Manager in addressing claim denials and appeals.
- Assist in identifying and resolving issues causing claim rejections.
- Contribute to the establishment of key performance indicators (KPIs) for the billing department.
- Assist in analyzing performance metrics and implementing improvements as needed.
- Work closely with the Billing Manager to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and other industry standards.
- Stay informed about changes in healthcare laws and regulations affecting medical billing.
EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE AND JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's or Associate degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in medical billing, with a proven track record of excellence.
- Knowledge of medical billing practices, coding systems, and reimbursement policies.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Knowledge of medical insurance payers and policies.
- Proficient knowledge and skills in Microsoft Excel.
