Site Director/Lead Teacher

Organization Overview: At our state-funded early childhood education program, we are committed to providing exceptional learning experiences for children during their most formative years (2-6 years). Our mission is to deliver high-quality, accessible education that nurtures the intellectual, social, and emotional development of preschoolers within low-income communities. Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to fill a combined full-time role as Lead Preschool Teacher and Site Director. This unique position offers the opportunity to directly influence the educational experiences of our young learners while overseeing the operational success of our program. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate educator and an adept leader, capable of blending high-level administrative duties with hands-on teaching responsibilities. Knowledge of DRDPs, Environment Rating Scales, CLASS, and Creative Curriculum is essential. Our preschool is NAEYC accredited, so familiarity with NAEYC standards is required.

Educational Leadership:

  • Implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that aligns with state standards, DRDPs, Environment Rating Scales, CLASS, Creative Curriculum, and our program’s educational philosophy.
  • Inspire a love of learning through innovative teaching practices and a nurturing classroom environment.

Program Administration:

  • Oversee daily operations, including staff supervision, program planning, and compliance with state regulations.
  • Ensure the program meets all quality standards for state-funded preschools and maintains NAEYC accreditation.

Staff Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire teaching staff through regular professional development, feedback, and team-building activities.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Family Engagement:

  • Develop strong relationships with families, engaging them in their children’s learning and promoting their active participation in the program.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers about program goals, child progress, and opportunities for involvement.

Classroom Teaching:

  • Directly engage in teaching, demonstrating best practices in early childhood education, and modeling effective strategies for child-centered learning.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs and interests of children.

Safety and Well-being:

  • Ensure a safe, secure, and healthy environment for children and staff.
  • Implement and monitor adherence to all safety protocols, health guidelines, and emergency procedures.

Community Relations:

  • Represent the program within the community, fostering partnerships with local organizations and advocating for early childhood education.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
  • State certification in early childhood education, with endorsements for both teaching and administrative roles.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in early childhood education, with at least 1 year in a leadership or administrative capacity.
  • Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, classroom management, and staff leadership.
  • Familiarity with DRDPs, Environment Rating Scales, CLASS, Creative Curriculum, and NAEYC standards.
