Advance Engineer – Livonia

Reports To: Estimating Manager

Department: Estimating

Responsible for inputs in the feasibility, profitability, prioritization, preparation and coordination of Request for Quotations (RFQ’s) Provide Estimating Department details regarding man, machine, materials and methods.

Job Duties:

·        Review and define processing labor estimates, capital needs, and understands CSR as it relates to quotations prior to job award.

·        Responsible for watching technology trends and preparing cost reduction and other recommendations based on those trends to incorporate into quotation.

·        Review cost estimates during change process and advise of cost impact of changes.

·        Analyze supplier quotes and provide information and data.

·        Reviews RFQ with estimating and engineering teams to make initial assessment of viability, profitability, and open capacity.

·        Participate in manufacturing feasibility studies with team of new product concepts and initial designs

·        Reviews and analyses existing processes, staff, materials during Engineering Change Request processes

·        Participate in customer cost reduction survey’s as needed

·        Complete expedited “rapid response” RFQ’s as assigned

·        Assist Accounting department post purchase order to review PO vs Quote for accuracy on quoted costs

·        Interact with Program Management and Engineering on engineering change requests for costing changes

·        Performs other related duties as assigned

·        Support and comply with all company/safety standards and standard operating procedures.

Competencies/ Skills:

·        Knowledge of Microsoft suite including project timeline software

·        Customer Portals

·        Plex

·        Data Entry

·        Intermediate Verbal and Written Communication skills

·        Ability to follow verbal and written directions

·        Analytical analysis

·        Problem solving skills

·        Time management skills and ability to meet deadlines

·        Ability to work independently and within a team

·        Attention to detail (proofing)

·        Knowledge of cost accounting principles (costing) and estimating techniques

·        Technical knowledge

·        Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and

·        volume

·        Basic algebra, geometry and finance

·        Create reports and business correspondence

·        Manage multiple projects simultaneously
