JOB SUMMARY:
The Development Manager reports to the Executive Director and plays a pivotal role in advancing the organization's mission by co-leading fundraising efforts and cultivating donor relationships. A newer position to the organization, the Development Manager will have the opportunity to collaborate and work with a small but growing team to execute comprehensive fund development strategies. This is an in-person position in the Eastown Neighborhood of Grand Rapids, Michigan.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design, execute, and evaluate an annual fund development plan and strategies for GRPC with the support of the Executive Director.
• Expand and maintain relationships with strategic partners, ex: grantors, program partners, and other supporters.
• Help to secure financial support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and government sources.
• Manage and grow annual giving, including expansion of an existing monthly contributor base.
• Develop and track grant-funding proposals and work with the Executive Director to prepare reports.
• Plans, coordinates, and implements GRPC fundraising and benefit events, including but not limited to our annual Pride Festival and Prism Awards in collaboration with Executive Director and/or events committee.

Develop and supervise legacy giving programs (planned giving toward launching an endowment fund).
• Create integrated marketing/fundraising campaigns including content for printed and online fundraising materials in collaboration with communications team.
• Document impact statements, donor testimonials, program photos, etc. to tell our story on social media in collaboration with communications team.
• Ensure all donors are:
• promptly recognized and thanked for contributions;
• receiving regular communication;
• cultivated to maintain and grow their support.
• Manage database (eTapestry) and develop donor profiles; supervise data entry and maintain security and quality controls; produce reports as requested.
• Coordinate with 3rd party individuals and organizations wishing to host events that benefit GRPC financially.
• Participate in board meetings, strategic and budget planning, as requested.
• Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred but lived experience is valued if formal education has not been attained, please include information in the resumé &/or cover letter.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in development, fundraising, event management or related experience preferably in a non-profit environment.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, public speaking, facilitation, and coalition-building capabilities are strongly preferred; willingness to learn and grow in these skills is required.
• Understanding of 2-SLGBTQ+, social justice, civil rights policy issues, overlapping identities and systems of oppression is strongly preferred; a passion for GRPC’s mission and work to create a region where 2-SLGBTQ+ people thrive is essential.
• Experience researching grant opportunities, structuring, writing, and editing persuasive proposals.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and make independent decisions.
• Strong partnership building, marketing, and event planning skills.
• Experience with web and multimedia based electronic and social media fundraising campaigns.
• Proficient computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office (required) and Google Suites (required).
• Experience with fundraising database e-Tapestry is a bonus.


IMPORTANT NOTES: 
• Reliable transportation and the ability to travel on a limited basis (you are not required to have a license or your own vehicle, but you must be able to access transportation quickly and easily to our office and other locations across the city.
• Evening and weekend hours required as necessary.
• Offers of employment is contingent on satisfactory results of a criminal history background check as well as a Central Registry Clearance (sex offender registry) check.
o The background check is a requirement, and any concerns you may have about it can be discussed beforehand with our Executive Director.


COMPENSATION: 
• Salary range: $45K to $50k commensurate with experience; opportunity for growth with demonstrated increase in funds raised.
