Job Summary: The Industrial Computer Drafter and Designer - Shop Foreman oversees the creation of detailed schematics and designs for industrial machinery using CAD software while managing the daily operations of the shop floor. This dual role ensures that designs are accurate and production processes are efficient, safe, and aligned with project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed engineering drawings and 3D models using CAD software.
- Collaborate with engineers and production teams to refine designs and ensure feasibility.
- Oversee shop floor operations, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Supervise and guide shop floor staff, providing training and ensuring adherence to safety regulations.
- Update and revise technical drawings to reflect design changes and improvements.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to verify design specifications and gather data.
- Maintain project documentation, including drawings, design calculations, and BOMs.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company guidelines.
- Lead design reviews and contribute to problem-solving and troubleshooting efforts.
- Manage inventory of materials and tools, coordinating with procurement as needed.
Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Design, Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
- Experience in industrial design and manufacturing processes.
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing a team.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and schematics.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in technical drawings.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, ASME, ISO).
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with 3D modeling and simulation software.
- Knowledge of materials science and industrial manufacturing techniques.
- Project management skills and ability to oversee design projects.
- Familiarity with programming and automation tools used in industrial design.
