Position Overview:
The successful Equipment Maintenance Specialist will support greenhouse staff by executing preventative maintenance and skilled repairs on intricate production machinery and systems (including mechanical, plumbing, and electrical).
This specialist will also engage with suppliers and vendors to acquire the necessary materials and/or contractors to complete maintenance projects within the designated budget.
Key responsibilities encompass ensuring that all tasks are performed in compliance with safety policies and regulations, as well as legal standards related to workplace safety.
Core Responsibilities:
Assess and recommend enhancements to equipment to boost efficiency, capability, and yield.
Conduct equipment failure analysis (including both preventative and unscheduled maintenance). Execute daily repair work orders, troubleshoot, and diagnose equipment issues.
Compile technical reports to document equipment modifications and maintenance procedures.
Organize the maintenance workshop, keeping an inventory of tools and supplies. Supervise and evaluate the work of junior technicians.
Maintain vigilance regarding the physical condition of the property and promptly rectify any unsafe conditions. Keep accurate records related to preventative maintenance, service requests (received and completed), expenditures, and the status of ongoing work.
Essential Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent, coupled with 3-5 years of relevant industry experience and/or training; or a suitable combination of education and experience.
Familiarity with electrical systems, tools, equipment, codes, and safety protocols.Proficient plumbing and electrical troubleshooting skills, along with knowledge of hazardous classifications.
Intermediate computer skills. A valid driver’s license, a clean criminal record, and a drug-free status are required. Must be in good physical condition and capable of working outdoors for extended periods.
Must be able to tolerate greenhouse conditions such as heat, cold, moisture, and dirt.Able to lift up to 40 lbs. and stand for extended durations.
Possess the ability to take initiative and work independently.
Ability to solve practical problems and adapt to a variety of changing situations.
