Position Overview:

As our Mortgage Industry Accountant/Finance Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial health and compliance of our organization, with a particular focus on loan servicing and collection. You will be responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing reports, and analyzing financial data relevant to the mortgage industry. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, regulatory compliance, and proficiency in financial software and tools, including QuickBooks and Excel.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Loan Servicing:
    • Manage and oversee the loan servicing process, including payment processing, escrow account management, and loan account reconciliations.
    • Ensure accurate and timely posting of mortgage payments and disbursements.
    • Collaborate with loan officers and borrowers to address inquiries related to loan servicing.
  • Loan Collection:
    • Implement effective loan collection strategies, including monitoring delinquent accounts and initiating collection efforts.
    • Negotiate payment plans and settlements with borrowers in accordance with company policies and industry regulations.
    • Maintain accurate records of all collection activities and communications.
  • QuickBooks:
    • Maintain and update financial records using QuickBooks software.
    • Reconcile bank statements and accounts receivable/payable.
    • Generate financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Payroll:
    • Process and manage payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
    • Maintain payroll records.
    • Handle payroll-related inquiries from employees and assist in resolving issues.
  • · Excel:
    • Utilize advanced Excel functions and formulas to analyze financial data, create reports, and perform financial modeling.
    • Develop and maintain Excel spreadsheets for budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
    • Import and export data between Excel and other financial software as needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on the mortgage industry preferred.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and other financial software.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a deadline-driven environment.
