Now Hiring for a Remote, Senior Accountant (6-month+ Contract) - Monday - Friday from 8-5. Qualified candidates must reside in Lenexa KS, Des Moines IA, or Lincoln NE

Responsibilities:

  • Support preparation and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS/Local statutory.
  • Prepare and maintain thorough documentation of accounting procedures and process improvements.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.
  • Lead the implementation of process improvements, including automation and system enhancements.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
  • Participate in or lead special accounting projects, such as system implementations, process improvements, and financial analysis initiatives.  Experience in supporting the implementation of data mart/sub ledger a plus. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry, with a proven track record in process improvement.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint – ability to take Excel spreadsheets, move into PP and make presentations
  • Experience with process automation tools is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
  • In-depth understanding of IFRS/GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and process optimization techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex financial information clearly.
