Corbion is seeking a Senior Accountant accustomed to handling challenging and/or high volume accounts. In this role, you will complete general ledger activities, make accruals or adjustments, identify sources of discrepancies and seek resolution. The ideal candidate is growth oriented, understands the required strict confidentiality of proprietary financial information, and able to prioritize their workload throughout the month to ensure deadlines are met. This role is a hybrid role based at our office in Lenexa, KS and reports to the Senior Financial Reporting Manager.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Timely and accurate closing of the monthly financial books including reviewing and documenting variances to ensure no omissions or errors in the transactions for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting
  • Complete manual journal entries in accordance to GAAP, IFRS and Corbion internal controls, supported by proper source documents
  • Review and post journal entries from Plant Operations accounting team appropriately
  • Ensure all Balance Sheet accounts are reconciled monthly.  Variances are researched and resolved timely
  • Analyze fixed cost trend reports and report out on variances
  • Fixed Asset and Lease accounting
  • Answer email/phone inquiries from internal and external customers in timely and professional manner
  • Partner with other departments (Operations, Sales, Customer Service) to understand the business and ensure there are no surprises during close. Pre-plan with other departments regularly for month end close
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Initiate automation whenever deemed fit to the manual processes including special projects, implementation, analysis from systems, acquisitions and divestitures
  • Operate responsibly and comply with company policies at all times

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. CPA or progress toward completion is preferred
  • 3+ years of accounting experience in a complex environment resulting in a solid understanding of general ledger practices and GAAP/IFRS compliance
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet and word-processing software and various accounting systems/ databases; SAP experience is a plus
  • Proven analytical, organizational and time management skills; ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented, with ability to analyze and research account variances
