SUMMARY

This position will be located in our Aston, PA Shop. The Industrial Engineer plans utilization of facilities, equipment, materials, Inventory, tooling, and personnel to improve efficiency, quality and safety of operations by performing the following duties.

Compiles records concerned with ordering, receiving, storing, issuing, producing and shipping materials, supplies, and equipment by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under direction where objectives are established, use a knowledge of inventory control practices, product information and company production capabilities to maintain inventories of raw materials
  • Confers with management and plant personnel to determine status of assigned projects.
  • Prepare manufacturing job travelers and other shop documents. To include proper routing steps, standard cost and other information needed to correctly manufacture parts.
  • Under direction where objectives are established, use a specialized knowledge of purchasing practices and company policy to acquire company's raw material needs considering quality, cost, quantity and delivery time to meet the operations of the company.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining production planning systems to ensure adequate raw materials to sustain the business activities of the company.
  • Analyzes drawings, sketches, and design data of part to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, machine speeds and feed rates.
  • Determines reference points and direction of machine cutting paths.
  • Computes angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures, and outlines sequence of operations required to machine part.
  • Prepares geometric layout using computer-assisted drafting software to show location of reference points and direction of cutting paths.
  • Writes instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machine.
  • Writes programs of machine instructions in symbolic language to encode numerical control database to regulate movement of machine along cutting path.
  • Revises program to eliminate instruction errors or omissions.
  • Observes operation of machine on trial run to prove programmed instructions.
  • May participate in Total Quality teams for the continuous improvement of the company services and functions.
  • Establish work and quality standards for the manufacture of the company products. Review and make recommendations on what to buy in machine tools, equipment and tooling.
  • Determine product and component routing.
  • Monitor and correct production, quality and safety problems as they arise.
  • Design and test tooling.
  • Provide quotes on special fittings/new products.
  • Analyzes customer complaints and recommends solutions.
  • Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating work stations and equipment, purchase of equipment, documentation process sheets and designs safe work practices.
  • Confers with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.
  • Assists on other projects, services and functions as needed.
  • Utilization of all state-of-the-art analytical tools, to include computer programs, measuring instruments and other quantitative analysis.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of manufacturing methods and technological advancements by attending training sessions, seminars, and reading related publications.
  • Write and submit engineering reports, analysis and computer programs, required by company procedures.
  • Utilize individually and/or further the use of total quality concepts, tools and techniques to support continuous quality improvement in all processes in which this position participates with a positive "Can Do" attitude.
  • Observe all company policies and regulations including safety, housekeeping, confidentiality of information, and quality of work with support of ISO procedures and standards.
  • Support, encourage and maintain a positive team working atmosphere throughout the company.
  • uses a knowledge of data entry and production processes to assist in the processing of the shop order.
  • Retrieves shop orders from the warehouse and verifies and reconciles information to close the order.
  • Corrects discrepancies generated in the shop or office and enters into the computer.
  • Generates list for physical counts, enter and update counts in the computer compiles data from sources such as contracts, purchase orders, invoices, requisitions, and accounting reports and writes, types, or enters information into computer to maintain inventory, purchasing, shipping, or other records.
  • Prepares requisitions, orders, or other documents for purchasing or requisitioning new or additional controlled supplies as needed.
  • Compares stock numbers, authorized substitutes, and other listed information with catalogs, manuals, parts lists, and similar references to verify accuracy of work orders and shipping orders.
  • Processes transaction edits, tabulates performance data and posts to master file.
  • Reviews allocations, makes corrections and releases picking documents in a timely manner.
  • Archive and maintain appropriate historical data. Operates computers, calculator and usual office equipment.
  • Prepare and submit reports, documents and records required by company policy.
  • Observe all company policies and regulations including safety, housekeeping, quality of work and confidentiality of information.
  • Utilize individually and/or further the use of total quality concepts, tools and techniques to support continuous quality improvement in all processes in which the position participates.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • 4-year college or university education preferred but not required, or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Epicor Kinetic ERP experience a plus

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, analysis of variance and sampling theory.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
