The Role:

Congo Brands is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team. The Senior Quality Assurance Specialist will support our expansion in the Beverage, Nutrition, and Personal Care product space. In this role, the Senior Quality Assurance Specialist will apply their experience to collaborate with manufacturers, regulators, suppliers, testing laboratories, and certification organizations. The Senior Quality Assurance Specialist is a key technical contributor in the development of new or existing products. You will be responsible for improving current processes and building SOPs while implementing quality systems at a corporate level.

This role is on-site at our Louisville, KY headquarters. This role requires 30%-50% travel.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in meetings with internal development teams, third party contract manufacturers/formulation labs and flavor/fragrance houses.
  • Provide additional support for certification programs and warehouse cGMP compliance.
  • Maintain quality and safety standards for all products and collaborate with cross functional resources (Operations, Product Development, etc.) to implement and maintain best practices.
  • Guarantee appropriate actions are taken based on risk assessment and overall risks, ensuring full regulatory compliance (including 21 CFR Part 111 and Part 117).
  • Train fellow employees on quality documents, standard operating procedures, and quality forms.
  • Implement, and maintain quality, safety, and efficacy standards for all products.
  • Provide technical input to establish cGMP compliance.
  • Support QA program for FDA audit readiness.
  • Provide support for relevant quality customer inquiries/complaints. Ensure complaints are documented, tracked, and trended for all products.
  • Execute vendor qualification criteria.
  • Stay updated on relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance with quality requirements.

Key Skills and Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in Food Science, Food Production, Microbiology or Quality Control.
  • 4+ years of experience in a food and/or supplement quality role.
  • 2+ years of Project Management experience at a CPG company or other related industry like Food and Beverage, Wine and Spirits, Dairy, Food Production, etc.
  • Experience working with 3rd party food safety systems (i.e. – SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000).
  • Knowledge of cGMP, regulatory affairs, business processes (stage gates), consumer complaints, GMP warehouse standards, and quality documentation.
  • Responsible for data and report accuracy and expected to find errors in data; investigate and develop robust controls to mitigate future errors.
  • Excellent collaborator and relationship builder; internal and external with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent planning, root cause analysis/problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated strength in inspiring a team-oriented collaborative environment.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Has a demonstrated passion that align with the core values of Alani Nu.
  • Experience with NetSuite a plus.
