ABOUT THE POSITION

The Human Resources Generalist Serves as a level 1 administrator for several critical human resources functions and workforce management, including employee relations, health and safety, compensation, benefits, leave and attendance tracking, payroll, and employee records. The Generalist provides internal support and partnership to Penn Vet teams. This full-time position requires the ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, customer service, communication, and organization. Candidates must be available to work a schedule from 8:00am to 5:00pm, with some flexibility, of Monday through Friday. This is a hybrid position: hybrid work arrangements allow for up to three days per week of remote work after onboarded in position and in consideration of onsite coverage needs. Remaining schedule is completed in corporate office location in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of broad-scope HR experience and :

  • Have in-depth Practitioner experience using ADP Workforce Now
  • Demonstrate a breadth of HR knowledge and competencies
  • Possess exceptional customer service and organizational skills
  • Be able to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification
  • Bilingual with ability to translate Spanish and English


Essential Responsibilities

  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training.
  • Works with HR Team to deliver new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles level 1 employment-related inquiries from employees and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the Director.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Completes other related duties as assigned, customary to department and role.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of payroll and employment law.
  • Ability to understand and maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to organize one's own activities and manage multiple priorities independently while also collaborating as an active member on a team.
  • Strong attention to detail, well organized, able to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Required Education and Experience

  • Associates’ degree in Human Resources Management, Bachelor's preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
