Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary: Based On Experience & Certifications

The Lead AV technician must have extensive experience with installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of electronic communication systems including but not limited to video conferencing, audio visual, projection, pro audio, and video control. Responsible for the safe and correct diagnosis of faults, removal, repair, test, implementation and operation of all aspects of audio visual, video conference, display and presentation technologies. Familiar with Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN), wireless, wired and voice telecommunication systems is required. The candidate should have knowledge of BICSI guidelines for proper install and termination procedures. This position requires that you be able to train and supervise apprentices in a team environment while facilitating the installation of cabling and electronics. A focus on safety, quality, production and schedule is fundamental to all work performed. Employees are expected to be committed to excellence and generate a high quality of work. All employees are expected to consistently report to work on time, work well with other employees to accomplish a common goal, and maintain a safe work environment. MCA Communications will provide hard hat, safety glasses, gloves and safety vest which must be worn at all time while on the job site. Employees must provide their own basic hand tools.


Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a commercial setting and be very proficient at working on projects such as:

  • Teleconferencing center build-outs
  • High-end projectors
  • LED walls
  • Audio systems
  • Touch screens
  • Interactive smart boards
  • Flat panel displays
  • Workstation outlets
  • Integrated AV equipment including: Cisco, Zoom, Polycom, Digital signage, IPTV, SMART Board, Crestron, AMX, Extron, Kramer, ClearOne, Biamp
  • Formal education in Electronics or related field preferred
  • Certifications within the related field a plus


Responsibilities:

  • Cat3, 5, 5e, 6, and 6a data cabling including the termination of RJ45 and keystone jacks.
  • Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints.
  • Assist with basic mechanical fabrication and basic rack wiring.
  • Able to identify and describe typical systems, their components, cables and terminations used in AV system.
  • AV System knowledge gained in a service or operational environment.
  • Experience operating, troubleshooting, and supporting a variety of AV systems.
  • Ability to navigate system project files in an effort to provide and request additional support.
  • Experience with AV tools, common test equipment, and commissioning requirements.
  • Install and maintain audio visual equipment including display devices, projectors, televisions, camera systems, video teleconferencing systems (VTC), microphones and speakers.
  • Field installation of control programs (i.e. AMX/Crestron) – upload and download capability.
  • Understanding and ability to train DSP and related software.
  • Understanding and ability to train media servers and content streaming.
  • Understanding and ability to train typical digital signage systems and associated networks.
  • Proficient understanding of Network Architecture and IT systems.
  • Experience with projector alignment, blending, lamp, and filter changes.
  • Projector and screen support structure installations.
  • Training on VC systems, codecs, and software.
  • Experience and training on typical Webcast delivery systems, tools and associated networks.
  • Experience in the planning, execution, and delivery of Audio Visual projects within a client environment.
  • Utilize knowledge of basic signal flow for audio, video and control.
  • Test equipment to ensure they are in good and safe working conditions.
  • Experience in the management of small teams.
  • Maintain a high standard of customer service and interaction with general contractors and clients.
  • Adhere to all required project safety requirements as set forth by MCA and OSHA.


Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must pass a criminal background check and pass a drug test
  • Must be willing to work anywhere in Houston and surrounding area
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule when needed


Abilities:

  • Lift up to 75 pounds at one time and at least 50 pounds for an extended period of time.
  • Fully utilize and relocate a 10-12 foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Works at various heights up to 60 feet; can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
  • Full ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, turn, twist, crawl, squat, walk, climb, push, pull, and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see the differences in colors, shades, and brightness
  • Possess the ability to understand and communicate in English at a minimum conversational level.
  • Meet any and all OSHA safety requirements.
