Job Title: Wireless Engineer

Job Location: Onsite - Houston, TX (primarily within and around the Loop 610 area)

 

SmartSource is seeking a Wireless Engineer for an ongoing contract in Houston TX.

This role will primarily support wireless projects involving RF design, adding Access Points (APs) to existing Cisco infrastructure, and occasional troubleshooting of simple RF issues. The ideal candidate will be an Associate-level engineer who can assist with regular staff tasks, working closely with our team to support multiple end-customer locations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • RF Design Support: Assist in RF design activities, providing support in optimizing wireless coverage and performance.
  • Access Point Configuration: Add and configure Access Points to existing Cisco wireless infrastructure.
  • Troubleshooting: Perform basic troubleshooting and resolve simple RF issues to ensure reliable wireless connectivity.
  • Upgrades and Maintenance: Support routine upgrades and maintenance of wireless systems as needed.
  • Collaboration: Work with senior engineers for complex configurations and controller setups when required.
  • On-Site Support: Provide on-site support at various customer locations within the Houston area.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in wireless engineering, with a focus on RF work and Cisco wireless infrastructure.

Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of RF design and wireless communication principles.
  • Experience with Cisco wireless APs and controllers.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving RF issues.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Certifications: CCNA Wireless or equivalent certification preferred.

 

Location: Must be local to the Houston area and available to travel to customer sites within the Loop 610 area.
