As the Director of Refrigerated LTL and Consolidation for FreezPak Logistics, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the less-than-truckload operational functions within our logistics division. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the efficient and effective management of all logistical activities. You will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, fostering strong relationships with the team, carrier partners and clients, and implementing strategies to enhance overall supply chain performance. You will play a critical role in establishing and managing relationships with carriers and clients, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the availability of transportation resources to meet the needs of our logistics operations. Your responsibilities will include optimizing carrier performance, controlling costs, and contributing to the overall success of the company's supply chain management.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the LTL/ consolidation functions of the logistics division in alignment with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with management to define and execute the vision for the logistics operations.

Carrier Relationship Management:

  • Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with carriers and transportation service providers.
  • Nurture and maintain strong partnerships with carriers to ensure reliable and cost-effective transportation solutions.

Contract Negotiation:

  • Lead negotiations with carriers to secure favorable terms, rates, and service level agreements.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Streamline and optimize end-to-end logistics processes to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure high levels of service quality.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with logistics clients.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their specific logistics requirements and ensure service delivery meets or exceeds expectations.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and inspire a team of carrier procurement professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation within the operations team.

Performance Metrics:

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve operational performance.
  • Analyze data and metrics to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for cost savings.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential operational disruptions.

Market Analysis:

  • Stay informed and provide recommendations about industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes affecting transportation and logistics.

Technology Integration:

  • Leverage transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant technologies to streamline procurement and execution processes and enhance visibility.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to implement and optimize technology solutions to increase operational capabilities.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage budgets for the LTL and Consolidations logistics operations, ensuring cost-effectiveness and financial sustainability.

Communication:

  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to provide updates on operational performance and address any issues promptly.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within 3rd party logistics, in a carrier procurement, or a related role within the logistics or transportation industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations, market trends, and industry best practices.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in using transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant software.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management principles, logistics operations, and industry trends.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make strategic decisions and solve complex problems.
