POSITION SUMMARY:
The University of St. Thomas is seeking qualified individuals for the role of Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer within the Facilities Management Department.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for:

- Conducting preventive maintenance and repairs on various mechanical systems and equipment throughout the university.
- Overseeing the operation and maintenance of steam and hydronic boilers, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, and closed-loop systems.
- Managing the maintenance and repair of air handling units, exhaust fans, air conditioning systems, and refrigeration units.
- Ensuring the proper functioning of pumping systems related to heating, cooling, and plumbing.
- Conducting plumbing repairs and maintenance on various fixtures and systems.
- Performing repairs on commercial and residential appliances.
- Maintaining residential heating systems, including forced air furnaces and hydronic boilers.
- Managing pneumatic air compressors and control systems related to mechanical equipment.
- Operating the computerized Energy Management System (EMS) for temperature control of mechanical systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum qualifications include:

- A valid driver's license.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including MS Office and spreadsheet navigation.
- Membership in a bargaining unit (Local 70).

For the Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer role:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a two-year technical program in mechanical maintenance.
- A minimum of five years of experience in mechanical maintenance.
- A Minnesota 1st Class C boiler license.
- EPA Universal Refrigeration Certificate.
- Certified Pool Operators Certificate (preferred or ability to obtain within six months).

For the Mechanical Systems Engineer role:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of experience in mechanical maintenance.
- A Minnesota 2nd Class C boiler license.
- EPA Universal Refrigeration Certificate or ability to obtain within twelve months.
- Certified Pool Operators Certificate or ability to obtain within six months.
