Salary: $28.57 per hour, plus on call stipend
Status: Non-Exempt, 35-hours per week

Job Summary:
At Family Services, Inc. we are in the business of supporting everyone's right to thrive. The Bilingual Social Worker provides high-quality, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed services to their caseload of families and children in the Dutchess County Family Education Program (DC FEP). The Social Worker works in close collaboration with the Case Manager to provide families referred by the Dutchess County Department of Community and Family Services with in-home parenting skills, counseling, assessments, and on call- support to achieve goals of safety and reduce risk of out-of-home placement. The Social Worker should enthusiastically support, practice, and communicate the agency’s mission and statement of values.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or other human services field with two (2) years relevant experience in providing social services.
- 2 years of experience in Case Management and/or Family Services or Social Services is required. Internship experience will not be substituted for work experience.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with families who speak Spanish and provide translation of documents as needed.
- Home-based programming experience preferred.
- CASAC credential and/or advanced coursework in social work or equivalent is a plus.
- Good communication and counseling skills.
- Knowledge of community and public agencies.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
- Commitment to cultural responsiveness and trauma-informed practices.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to frequently and efficiently travel to client homes and community meetings.
- Ability to work outside of the traditional workday as needed (with prior planning) to meet the needs of families on case load as well as facilitate support groups as needed.
- Complete required on-the-job training, including Motivational Interviewing, Mandated Reporter, CORE Foundations, and SafeCare.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provides Mandated Preventive Services to families referred by the Dutchess County Department of Child and Family Services to reduce risk of future incidences of child abuse and neglect and maintain child safety.
- Maintains a caseload of 12 to 13 families and provides in-home services ranging from once per month to twice per week.
- Supports families on their caseload in implementing their Court Orders and remaining in compliance with expectations of the Dutchess County Department of Community and Family Services.
- Develop and assess Family Assessment Service Plan goals in collaboration with community partners.
- Obtain and maintain Family Check-Up and SafeCare training and certification (training will be provided) to implement evidenced based parent skills training efficiently and effectively.
- Implement Motivational Interviewing techniques (training will be provided).
- Implement support groups related to parenting, trauma or other identified needs as needed.
- Provide 24/7 support to families working with the Family Education Program as part of on-call rotation (stipend provided).
- Assess child safety and risk and effectively communicate with supervisor in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with other departments and community partners to provide a comprehensive array of services to families and children.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records (including completion of case notes within 72 hours of service provision) and ensure that all documentation is complete and in compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Participate actively in weekly team meetings as well as individual supervision.
- Provides services to families with cultural humility to help reduce the disparity in the child welfare system.
Community/Partner Liaison
- As a representative of the Agency, shares our values, knowledge, and skills with other organizations, community groups, regulatory bodies, and key stakeholders.
- Participate in program outreach to the community and expand service reach by researching community organizations and providing community outreach through presentations.

Work Environment – The Bilingual Social Worker will primarily work from the office
setting, located at 29 North Hamilton Street in Poughkeepsie, in the community, and
travel to offsite home visits and meetings.
