POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Controller is responsible for various tasks, including supporting accounting management, formulating internal controls and policies, preparing financial statements, managing journal entries, assisting in budgeting and forecasting, and reviewing accounting information for accuracy for five consolidating entities. This role will work closely with the Controller and Chief Financial Officer to ensure the accounting and financial processes meet established standards, promoting accurate financial reporting and effective control.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES ARE INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Support most aspects of accounting management (billing, tax forms, reporting etc.)
  • Support the accounting team in researching and analyzing accounting guidance pertaining to new and current business models
  • Support in acquisition accounting
  • Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements
  • Assist in the establishment of effective control systems
  • Manage journal entries, invoices etc. and reconcile accounts for the monthly or annual closing
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets or forecasts
  • Prepare financial statements that adhere to regulatory and accounting guidelines
  • Participate in preparation for the annual audit
  • Identify and rectify discrepancies
  • Review the company's accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances
  • Utilize accounting IT system to facilitate processes and maintain records

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years' experience in public accounting or similar assistant controller positions
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles
  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (especially excel) and Microsoft Business Central.
  • Well-organized with ability to prioritize
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • BS/BA in accounting is strongly preferred
  • Professional certification (CPA) is required

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Intermittent office noise
  • Must be able to lift at least 20 lbs.
