SUMMARY

ACOF is a nonprofit affordable housing development corporation founded in 1988 with the goal of developing housing for individuals and families with special needs. Its mission is to end homelessness through the provision of quality permanent supportive housing for people with mental illness. ACOF’s values are Dignity, Excellence, Community and Equity.

The Housing Development Intern is responsible for supporting the Project Development Staff by providing assistance with projects as needed.


Essential Duties:

The Housing Development Intern will assist project management staff with:

· General administrative tasks, such as updating and maintaining files, check requests, photocopying, scheduling and preparing for meetings, expense tracking, draw processing, and contract writing.

· Project specific work such as: responding to requests from lenders, completing checklists for loan closings, performing due diligence on acquisition sites, following up on site maintenance issues, responding to requests for proposals, and preparing funding applications.

· Research specific projects.

· Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this job. Individual abilities may result in some deviation of these guidelines.


Basic Qualifications:

· Experience and/or coursework in construction, real estate development, site analysis, land use, affordable housing financing, and/or affordable housing development.

· Strong oral and written communication skills.

· Attention to detail.

· Ability to effectively synthesize information.

· Ability to handle multiple assignments and work in a fast-paced environment.

· Ability to work independently.

· Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel and Outlook.)

· Ability to lift items weighing approximately 20 pounds or less.

· Valid driver’s license and ability to meet California minimum and ACOF insurance requirements.

· Access to a personal vehicle to be used to conduct ACOF business.
