Your Impact:

As a Financial Planning Analyst you will:


Key Responsibilities:


Financial Analysis:

  • Develop and utilize analytical tools to address issues such as optimization, performance measurement, and attribution.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Interpret and present financial analysis results in written reports.
  • Develop financial models to support long-term strategic planning.

KPI Monitoring:

  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure financial and organizational performance.
  • Collaborate with program leaders to understand and improve KPIs.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations for performance improvement.

Cost Management:

  • Develop and periodically review indirect cost allocation plans.
  • Analyze cost drivers and report findings across various departments.
  • Collaborate with budget owners to identify cost-saving opportunities.

Program Development Financial Impact Analysis:

  • Evaluate the financial implications of newly developed programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with program leaders on cost-volume-profit analysis.
  • Support the advancement team with private foundation applications and documentation.
  • Assess profitability and return on investment for proposed projects.

Budgeting, Tracking, and Forecasting:

  • Support the annual budgeting process.
  • Assist in preparing monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Prepare financial forecasts and variance analyses to support strategic decision-making.

Investment Activities Analysis:

  • Analyze investment activities, evaluating their impact on CASL’s overall financial health.
  • Assess financial returns and risks associated with different investment options.
  • Provide recommendations for improving financial processes and reporting structures.
  • Collaborate with Asset Management (AM) and Vice President of Finance (VPF) to optimize investment strategies.

Must Haves:

To thrive in this role, you should have:


Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or financial analysis.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Proven experience in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with high accuracy and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including Pivot Tables and VBA).
  • Experience with financial software (Sage Intacct preferred).

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Non-profit accounting experience.
  • MBA or relevant certification (CFA, CPA).
  • Proficiency in Robotic Process Automation.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently sit for extended periods.

Environment and Scheduling:

  • Standard business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm or 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, hybrid.
  • Must be flexible to work additional hours when necessary.
