Job Title: Payroll Manager

Location: Lake Forest, IL

Job Summary: The Payroll Manager will oversee and manage the payroll functions of the company, ensuring accurate processing and distribution of payroll for all employees. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and an in-depth understanding of payroll regulations and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the preparation, distribution, and reporting processes for payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Identify system improvements to increase departmental efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with HR and accounting departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data.
  • Handle and resolve complex employee payroll issues.
  • Prepare reports illustrating payroll expenditures, including such items as tax payments and benefit plan disbursements.
  • Implement and review payroll policies and procedures.
  • Manage and mentor payroll staff, ensuring professional development and accuracy in their work.
  • Stay informed about trends and changes in the payroll field.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in payroll management, preferably in a large, multi-state organization.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll software, HRIS systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent managerial, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead staff in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Proven experience in payroll tax and regulatory requirements across multiple states.
