We have an immediately available opportunity for a Data Engineer (approximately 80% data engineer and 20% data scientist) supporting the Air Force Research Lab in Dayton, Ohio.

***This is a remote position with quarterly travel to Ohio***

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with customer to define requirements and understand needs
  • Data mine large volumes of data developing filters, anomaly detectors, etc. as appropriate
  • Write queries on the database to collect information
  • Perform data ingest for use by R&D and product teams
  • Analyze data for tends and patterns based on program requirements
  • Parse data / apply syntax analysis to explore data formats, and structure data as necessary improving access for R&D and product teams
  • Translate complex data into actionable insights

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and at least 5 years of related experience
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Experience in the construction, development, and maintenance of data architecture
  • Knowledge of frameworks like Hadoop, MapReduce, Pig, Hive, Apache Spark, NoSQL or similar.
  • Ability to transform large, unstructured data into usable structured data sets
  • Ability to develop coding and apply data analysis tools to curated data
  • Strong analytical experience and problem-solving skills
  • Compile reports on the data and also provide some analysis
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all program stakeholders
  • Flexibility to travel as necessary but at least quarterly
  • Ability to evolve skill set to meet evolving customer needs over the life of a program

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master of Science in related field with 5-10 years of experience
  • Experience in both data engineer and data scientist roles
  • AI experience is a plus including experience with ML models, but not required
