Modeling and Simulation Engineer and Data Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Modeling and Simulation Engineer and Data Analyst to join our team at Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing Modeling and Simulation (M&S) support of Electro Optical and Infrared technologies to the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL).

You will work closely with our government and contractor team to develop and demonstrate cutting-edge avionics capabilities for the U.S. Air Force. Your expertise in data analysis and software tools will be essential in generating scientific results to support R&D programmatic decisions.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing M&S and data analysis for Electro Optical (EO) and Infrared (IR) cutting-edge technologies
  • Using data analysis and/or software tools to generate scientific results to support R&D programmatic decisions
  • Providing analytical/modeling subject matter expertise advisement to senior engineers, program managers, and senior leaders
  • Analyzing end user requirements and providing recommendations based on scientific results and developmental risks
  • Evaluating proposed projects for feasibility and applicability to relevant military mission areas
  • Participating in strategic planning and development of systems architectures
  • Identifying and recommending alternative or new Research and Development (R&D) strategies
  • Generating documents, briefings, roadmaps, and planning materials to support the customer mission

Requirements include:

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance with ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
  • 8-10 years' experience with M&S and data analysis, MATLAB, and Python, image and signal processing
  • 8-10 years' technology development experience with EO, lasers, and/or IR systems
  • Experience with EO sensors, IR Search and Track (IRST) systems, Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR), laser optics, image processing, signal processing, and statistics
  • Strong EO/IR data analysis and performance modeling computing skills
  • Proficient knowledge of software development and/or software maintenance
  • Experience processing image/signal data and a working knowledge on data-basing, data storage, and data archiving
  • Sufficient EO/IR experience to produce trusted results and communicate recommendations to the customer
  • Ability to develop and present analysis results briefings to senior leadership
  • Experience in generating requirements analysis and definitions at the mission and systems engineering levels
  • Must work well within a team environment to identify and apply best practices
  • Strong skills in documenting inputs, outputs, and requirements
  • Experience working with U.S. Air Force customers
  • Experience developing high-level project/work plans
  • Familiarity with EO modeling tools such as MODTRAN, LEEDR, and DIRSIG
  • Clear and effective oral and written communications skills

Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related technical field. A Master's degree in a similar field is highly desired.
