Our e-commerce solution is embedded in millions of carts each month, and we're seeking an innovative Head of Insurance Products to join our high-performing team.

The Head of Insurance Products will oversee our protection products and services' development, implementation, and management. This entrepreneurial leadership role requires a hands-on approach and a deep understanding of the insurance industry, particularly in property and casualty, surplus lines, warranty, and accident and health. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving growth, ensuring compliance, and fostering innovation in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment. You’ll need to think outside the box and raise the bar to push everyone, including leadership, to achieve excellence. Positivity and alignment with Protecht’s values are essential, as you’ll play a critical role in shaping our team's future and protection products.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute the company's insurance strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Identify and capitalize on market opportunities to expand our insurance product offerings.
  • Drive strategic initiatives to enhance customer experience and market presence.

Product Development:

  • Develop and deliver the roadmap for protection products. Continuously evaluate and enhance product features to meet market demands and regulatory requirements. Identify and evaluate new protection products and assess their profitability potential and risk implications.
  • Partner with actuarial and underwriting experts at insurance carrier partners to develop coverage, pricing plans, and eligibility requirements.
  • Identify and manage key product performance metrics to optimize the effectiveness of current products and recommend enhancements for improved loss ratios, increased margin, maximum customer satisfaction, and reduced risk.
  • Work closely with product & engineering, GTM, Finance, and CX teams to deliver critical product features and other product management deliverables.

Operational Management:

  • Own and maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers and broker partners. Serve as the conduit for communications to determine coverage options, negotiate favorable terms and pricing, and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the insurance function, ensuring efficient and effective processes.
  • Establish underwriting, claims management, and customer service best practices.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators to drive operational excellence.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant insurance regulations and industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain robust risk management frameworks and practices.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and manage relationships with external partners.

Hands-On Execution:

  • Be actively involved in all aspects of the insurance function, from product development to customer interactions.
  • Implement best practices for underwriting, claims management, and customer service.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise in the insurance processes.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with senior management to align insurance strategies with overall business goals.
  • Engage with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and industry experts.
  • Represent the company with clients and at industry events, conferences, and forums.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Finance, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in insurance product management leadership or a related role within the insurance industry, ideally at a tech company.
  • Insurance Producer license with lines of authority for Property & Casualty (P&C) in home state (additional states are a bonus) and Accident & Health (bonus)
  • Surplus lines broker license in home state (multiple states a bonus)
  • Experience launching and scaling product initiatives
  • Strong understanding of insurance market trends, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities, with experience in cross-functional collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive strategic initiatives and achieve business objectives.
  • This is a remote position. Travel to Protecht Hubs in Phoenix, San Francisco, Denver, Los Angeles, Austin, or Chicago, as well as client sites, is required.
