POSITION SUMMARY:
The Holiday Inn Express & Suites The Dalles is looking for a Part-Time Maintenance Technician to join the team This position is an essential role within the hotel that focuses on making sure the hotel facility is in top notch condition and hotel guests are having the best experience with our hotel. This position is responsible for the proper working order of all physical hotel assets and coordinating with management a solution for maintenance problems that arise or projects needing completion. This requires great communication skills, building repair skills, attention to detail, problem solving, multitasking, speed and organization. This is a position is within a fast pace and team oriented workplace environment. This hotel position is an essential team member in assisting our hotel guests have the highest quality experience and representation while staying in our hotel facilities. This position will focus on the day to day operations of the Maintenance department upholding quality assurance and cost control measures for the Maintenance department and hotel.

JOB COMPETENCY: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following items below with at minimum satisfactory performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Take care of all general hotel repairs and cleaning requirements
  • Perform preventative maintenance schedule for all guest rooms and
    common areas
  • Engage in painting, performing structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings of buildings and carrying out basic electrical and plumbing tasks
  • Engaged in ground maintenance activities, such as mowing lawns, trimming hedges, removing weeds, raking/disposing of leaves, refuse and planting
  • General cleaning and up keep of buildings, including buffing, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and washing windows
  • Assist other departments as requested, including moving furniture and unloading and storing supplies
  • Inventories, requisitions and purchases tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Purchasing of tools and supplies necessary for hotel repair and stocking inventory
  • Build relationships with vendors and contractors to help support hotel needs
  • Travel if needed to pick up supplies, tools, training and or assist other company hotels
  • Upholds all safety regulations
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of staff
  • Monitor and maintain all building systems
  • Responsible for the completion of all maintenance service requests as assigned
  • Maintain a professional and courteous manner with all guests, vendors, contractors, and employees
  • Responsible for alerting the General Manager and or Assistant General Manager of any unusual or major occurrence with equipment, systems, hotel structure; report, analyze and/or repair damage that has taken place or that may occur with the hotel in the future. If unknown solution, research and find experts to assist in the matter
  • Assure safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, city, state and federal guidelines
  • Proficiently clean all assigned areas by General Manager or Assistant General Manager
  • Control all expenditures relating to Maintenance, including labor, supplies, and equipment
  • Assist in pick up of trash and recycling throughout building
  • Complete deep cleaning and or preventative maintenance schedules for general areas assigned by General Manager or Assistant General Manager
  • Assist guests promptly and accurately with questions, complaints or requests
  • Provide friendly and courteous service to hotel guests
  • Complete daily checklists, filings and logs
  • Assist with hotel events when in need to assure guest satisfaction
  • Respect guest privacy and security by using hotel protocol when entering guest rooms
  • Be proficient with property security, key control procedures, as well as fire, flood and weather-related safety procedures
  • Report any lost and found items to proper staff using hotel protocol
  • Communicate accurate information to other departments such as workorders, room status, guest service requirements, etc.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets
  • Frequent contact with hotel guests and employees
  • Complete any hotel related task requested by direct manager or General manager

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:
The best candidates will need to have flexible availability to work shifts that vary. This position includes working day shifts and evening shifts that may be extended hours depending on company needs. This position also includes working weekends and holidays.

EDUCATION / TRAINING / SKILLS MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum 1 years Maintenance/Engineering Experience preferred
  • Excellent Attention to Detail: Ability to make hotel repairs quickly and in quality detail
  • Teamwork: ability to work efficiently and unified with co-workers and other departments

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:
Must be able to walk, stand and bend for extended periods of time. Must be physically able to
grasp, grip, pull, push, twist, turn and lift boxes or equipment, which average around 25-30 pounds each and 50 pounds or more with assistance.
