ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Build new tooling components to produce a part piece to customer and engineering specifications.
  • Repair and maintain tooling to keep part piece to print specifications.
  • Troubleshoot tooling to find the cause of a part to be out of print specification and execute corrective action.
  • Discuss with Tooling Support Supervisor or Engineering Department for any improvements and/or change to the tool that will improve tool life and quality.
  • Observe that tooling best practices are followed and identify and suggest opportunities for improvement.
  • Reviews drawings, instruction, blueprints, or samples to ensure accurate production.
  • Fabricate varies parts to conform to prints and inspection reports.
  • Set up, adjust and operate a variety of department machinery to include horizontal and vertical mills, lathes, presses and grinders to manufacture machine parts requiring close tolerances.
  • Sharpen and replace tooling as needed.
  • Required to make tool adjustments during production.
  • Process all necessary documentation and paperwork for processes.
  • Ability and understanding of material ordering to see tasks through to completion.
  • Assist the Research and Development team with troubleshooting to include new tool packages.
  • Fit and assemble new tooling packages to print.
  • Have the ability to closely estimate the amount of time required to manufacture/rework a machined piece.
  • Use a variety of precision measuring devices to set up and adjust work and verify conformance of work to specifications detailed in blueprint specifications.
  • Perform general preventative maintenance work on tools and equipment.
  • Operator various hand tools, power tools and machine tools to make finish adjustments to products.
  • Repair or produce parts using both manual and automated equipment with precise measurements.
  • Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and repairs for damage.
  • Requires the exercise of the skills and the use of the tools normally associated with several trades such as carpentry, plumbing, welding, machine repair, masonry, machinist and mechanic.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor for additional experience and/or training or refinement skills or in preparation for advancement.
  • Occupation includes a requirement to attend and participate in team meetings and training programs.
  • Participates in AMMO's Continual Improvement Process.
  • Occupation includes a requirement to follow EHS procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Specialized vocational training or apprenticeship preferred.

Minimum Skills and Experience:

  • 2-3 years industrial or mechanical repair experience
  • Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders, etc.)
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Math, problem solving, mechanical and reading abilities required.
  • Industrial experience desired.
  • Skilled in performing detailed work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, customers, co-workers, and management.
  • Ability to influence change & lead those who oppose change.
  • Ability to make quick and accurate decisions and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write and make calculations.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is carried out in a controlled, agreeable production environment.
  • Oil, coolant and noise (90db) present. Hearing protection is required.
  • Technician is subject to lifting up to 50 lbs.

Safety Requirements:

  • Must follow all safety rules and exhibit safe work practices. Must complete and pass all required safety training and testing. Must wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
