Job Description

POSITION TITLE: School Based Career Coach

DIVISION: Vocational and Day Services

SUPERVISOR: Director of Vocational Services - North

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

PURPOSE:

Assist in the implementation, analysis, identification and development of Pre-Employment Transition Services for the North Central Collaborative. Provide services to support core Pre-ETS initiatives of the North Central Collaborative in local high schools.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  1. Responsible for delivery of project services on time and on budget.
  2. Work with management on project tasks and needs.
  3. Assist in the implementation, development and follow-through of referrals.
  4. Maintain appropriate record keeping systems for tracking referrals, student outcomes and project success.
  5. Maintain and develop positive communication with partners, vocational rehabilitation, and schools for the purposes of the Pre-ETS grant.
  6. Maintain a positive atmosphere which promotes the team approach to solutions, good morale, open communication between staff, and positive customer relationships.
  7. Must have the ability to successfully work in both independent and group settings.
  8. Convene and facilitate meetings, develop timelines and follow through on commitments.
  9. Meet with students, teachers, and administrative staff on a regular basis.
  10. Maintain Pre-ETS caseloads at designated schools.
  11. Complete Pre-ETS intakes as needed.
  12. Build Pre-ETS group activities and after school programming
  13. Work directly with Pre-ETS students on job exploration counseling, work based learning experiences, work place readiness, self-advocacy, and post-secondary.
  14. Demonstrate a professional, positive, and team player attitude.

ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS:

  1. Required to attend North Central Collaborative meetings and serve on agency subcommittees as needed.
  2. Must represent the agency at school functions such as outreach night activities educating families on Pre-ETS services.
  3. Attend State meetings as requested by agency administration.
  4. Have own transportation to/from meetings and events in and around the state.
  5. Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  6. Attend/request related training as authorized.
  7. Be available to work afternoons and evenings as needed for Pre-ETS group activities.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Associate’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, SPEA, Education, or a related field preferred. High School Diploma required.
  2. Must have demonstrated use of desktop publishing and word processing.
  3. Must have strong teamwork and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  4. Maintain a valid Indiana driver’s license, insurance on a personal vehicle (minimum of PLPD with Medical liability coverage), and maintain insurability as defined by the agency liability insurance carrier.
  5. Must be able to pass each school’s required background checks.
