Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary:

Our company is looking to hire an experienced Painter/Loader for our miscellaneous metals division.


Under the direct supervision of the Production Supervisor, the employee will be responsible for painting, loading, and unloading structural steel/miscellaneous metal components such as columns, beams, channels, plate, stair treads, railings, etc. onto or from trucks using overhead cranes and/or forklifts, in addition to a variety of other tasks relating to the shipment of products. These items include but are not limited to:


  • Read and interpret work lists, written instructions, and diagrams to perform task at hand.
  • Wire brush and scrape as necessary to achieve proper surface texture per job specifications.
  • Cover surfaces with drop-cloths or tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
  • Apply paint, or other finishes to steel, using brushes, spray guns, or rollers as required by job specifications.
  • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the painting and loading trade.
  • Analyze painting specifications, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan painting and loading needs.
  • Must be able to set up and climb ladders and stairs to work on flatbed trailers.
  • Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required.
  • Operate overhead cranes, fork trucks, and other equipment to transport materials to and from the paint bay and transportation vehicles, and to store and retrieve materials within shop and yard.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator for extended periods of time
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Required Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to speak, read and write in English.
  • Physically capable of lifting/pushing/pulling 70 pounds unassisted
  • Physically capable of bending/twisting as well as standing for long periods of time
  • Able to work well with minimal supervision as well as with other co-workers
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented and has a positive attitude
