If you’re a visionary who thrives on turning innovative ideas into reality, then our client has an exciting opportunity for you. We’re looking for a Director of Mobile Development (aka The App Innovator) to lead our mobile development efforts and push the boundaries of what’s possible.
Imagine leading a team where your vision shapes the future of mobile products, and your decisions directly impact the user experience of millions. As the Director of Mobile Development at our client, you’ll be responsible for driving the mobile strategy, overseeing the development process, and ensuring that our mobile apps are not just good, but exceptional. This role isn’t just about managing projects—it’s about leading a team to create the next generation of mobile experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mobile Development Strategy Leader:
- Define and implement a comprehensive mobile development strategy that aligns with our company’s goals. You’ll create a roadmap that ensures our mobile products are innovative, user-friendly, and ahead of the competition.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mobile developers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence. You’ll ensure that your team has the tools, skills, and support they need to deliver outstanding results.
- Project Oversight and Delivery:
- Oversee the execution of multiple mobile projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You’ll coordinate cross-functional efforts to ensure that all mobile development activities are aligned with business goals.
- Process Improvement and Optimization:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices that enhance efficiency and effectiveness in mobile development. You’ll introduce new tools, frameworks, and methodologies that streamline development and improve product quality.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with product management, design, QA, and other departments to ensure seamless collaboration and successful mobile product launches. You’ll be the bridge between mobile development and the rest of the organization, ensuring that communication is clear and that everyone is working towards the same goals.
- Innovation and Technology Leadership:
- Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies in mobile development, bringing new ideas and innovations to the team. You’ll ensure that our mobile technology stack remains cutting-edge and competitive.
- User Experience and Quality Assurance:
- Champion the importance of user experience (UX) in mobile app development, ensuring that our products are intuitive, engaging, and reliable. You’ll implement rigorous testing and QA processes to ensure that our apps meet the highest standards of quality.
Requirements
Required Skills:
- Mobile Development Expertise: Extensive experience in mobile app development, with a deep understanding of iOS, Android, and cross-platform frameworks. You’re well-versed in the intricacies of mobile design, development, and deployment.
- Leadership Excellence: Proven experience leading and mentoring mobile development teams, with a track record of delivering high-quality mobile apps. You’re the kind of leader who can inspire and guide a team to achieve their best work.
- Strategic Vision: Ability to develop and implement a mobile strategy that aligns with business goals and anticipates future needs. You’re always thinking ahead, ensuring that our mobile products are future-proof and scalable.
- Process Optimization: Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps practices. You know how to create and refine processes that maximize efficiency and quality in mobile development.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You make the intricate understandable, ensuring that everyone is on the same page.
- Humor: A great sense of humor, because we believe in fostering a work environment that is both productive and enjoyable. If you can lighten the mood during a tough sprint, you’re our kind of leader.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience with a proven track record in mobile development leadership is also valued.
- Certifications in mobile development, Agile, or relevant technologies are a plus. If you’ve contributed to open-source mobile projects or published papers on mobile development, that’s a bonus.
Experience Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years focused on mobile development and 3-5 years in a leadership role such as Mobile Development Manager, Lead Mobile Developer, or similar. You’ve successfully led teams that have delivered successful, scalable mobile apps.
- Proven experience in building and scaling mobile apps in fast-paced environments, particularly in industries such as SaaS, fintech, or healthtech.
- Experience with both native and cross-platform mobile development frameworks, as well as cloud-based mobile backends.
