Instructional Designer / ISD Specialist

Pherson is hiring We are searching for Instructional Designers / ISD Specialists, at various levels, to join our team at our client’s location in Springfield, VA. Levels will be determined based on prior experience, education, and skills.


The Instructional Designer/ ISD Specialist shall develop curriculums, learning objectives, course materials, and job aides for in-person or virtual or web-based training courses, using programs of instruction or material approved by the client. This includes workshops, seminars, and in-person training and virtual programs. This may include the maintenance, updating, or development of current training course topics as well as the development of future training courses.


NOTE:  An active TS/SCI clearance is required. Positions will be full-time, onsite in Springfield, VA.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct training needs analysis.
  • Develop/revise curriculum, learning objectives, course materials, and job aides.
  • Maintain and update current course content and training support materials to include relevant hands-on training aids.
  • Develop new course content, programs, and relevant training support materials.
  • Develop criteria and methodology for evaluating effectiveness of training activities.
  • Continuously revise training materials, course content and training aids based on evaluations of training and new or emerging capabilities/techniques or requirements to ensure course relevancy.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Curriculum Development, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, eLearning Development, Adult or Secondary Education, Educational Psychology, or other relevant educational degree. A minimum of 24 college credit hours in training design are required.
  • Minimum of five years’ previous experience in designing and developing formal workforce training programs using backwards curriculum design.
  • Demonstrated understanding of adult learning theory and related frameworks.
  • Demonstrated development of assessments, such as tests, rubrics, or checklists.
  • Experience applying the ADDIE methodology.
  • Experience in developing training for modalities including In-Person Instructor-Led, eLearning, Web Based Training (WBT) and Computer Based Training (CBT); and synchronous and asynchronous distance learning programs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power BI, PowerPoint and Teams) and Adobe applications.
  • Experienced in curriculum development software such as Adobe Captivate and curriculum delivery systems such as Blackboard.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work efficiently by prioritizing project, multitasking, and meeting tight deadlines.
