The Elementary Mathematics Instructional Coach collaborates with educational leaders at both district and school levels to effectively implement the district's Strategic Plan with commitment and precision. This role requires the individual to dedicate 50% of their time in classrooms, actively involved in modeling, coaching, co-teaching, and demonstrating best practices aligned with educational standards. Additionally, 30% of their time will be spent analyzing data, leading collaborative meetings, delivering professional development sessions, and facilitating professional learning communities, while the remaining 20% will focus on direct student instruction.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leading and mentoring educators by:

- Planning, executing, and supporting high-quality, standards-aligned instruction for all learners.
- Designing exemplary classrooms for demonstration purposes.

- Assisting in the planning and execution of rigorous, standards-based lessons informed by student performance data.

- Supporting teachers in utilizing technology tools and resources that enhance student-centered, standards-aligned instruction.

- Demonstrating proficiency in accessing, analyzing, and utilizing school, classroom, and individual student data to support effective tiered instruction.

- Facilitating professional learning communities.

2. Collaboratively designing and implementing targeted professional development initiatives that align with the district's Strategic Plan.

- Actively participating in all school-based Instructional Leadership Team meetings.

- Engaging in district-wide professional development to ensure alignment between district initiatives and school improvement goals.

- Involving the school community to foster a collective understanding of contributions towards the district's Strategic Plan aimed at enhancing student achievement.

3. Fostering a school environment characterized by reflective practice, high expectations, and ongoing learning.

- Building partnerships with district and school administration, families, and the community to support school improvement efforts.

- Consistently modeling high instructional expectations and ensuring accessibility for all students.

- Cultivating a culture of reflection among staff, encouraging the use of student data, current research, and best practices to adapt continuously.

- Coaching and guiding teams to establish, monitor, and achieve district and school objectives.

- Providing constructive feedback to educators that recognizes effective practices and outlines actionable next steps to enhance teaching and learning.

Qualifications:

1. A minimum of 5 years of experience directly working with students, predominantly in the relevant content area.

2. A historical attendance rate of 97%.

3. A master's degree from an accredited institution.

4. A valid professional teaching license from the relevant educational authority, reflecting the content and grade level of the position.

5. A preferred overall exemplary evaluation rating from a direct supervisor, with a minimum of a proficient rating required from the last two years of employment.

6. Demonstrated growth in student achievement based on assessments over the past one to two years.

Application Process:

Phase One - Initial Application

The initial application must include:

  • A Letter of Interest detailing:
    • Expertise in enhancing teacher practice,
    • Analysis and utilization of student data,
    • Leadership capabilities,
    • Implementation of student learning objectives, and
    • The instructional planning process within your educational setting.
  • A copy of your valid professional teaching license.
  • A comprehensive resume outlining your professional experience.
  • Contact information for three professional references.

Following the initial review, selected candidates will be notified regarding their progression to the next phase of the application process.

Phase Two - Site-Based Observation

Members of the Academic Department will conduct on-site observations of the candidate either leading adult learning or instructing students. This observation will not be evaluative.

Phase Three - Interview Including Performance-Based Tasks

Part 1: Data Analysis

Candidates will receive a data set prior to the interview, requiring them to analyze the data and present their findings to the interview committee. The candidate will demonstrate growth in student data over the past one to two years and communicate their action steps and instructional strategies.

Part 2: Interview

During the interview, candidates will present their data analysis, explain student growth, and respond to questions that allow them to articulate their expertise related to the responsibilities outlined in this posting.

Phase Four - Principal Interview

Candidates who successfully complete the previous phases will be designated as Highly Qualified Instructional Leadership Specialist candidates. Principals with vacancies will interview these candidates in collaboration with their Chief School Officer. The Principal and Chief School Officer will determine if a candidate is selected for employment as an Instructional Leadership Specialist.

If a candidate is not selected for immediate placement after the principal interview, they will be placed in a pool of applicants.
