PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Represents agency in various professional societies or other associations deemed appropriate by supervisor
  • Answers routine inquiries from the media, clients and general public, which requires knowledge of operations, activities, policies, and procedures, and other client related activities
  • Assists the team in the execution of overall client strategic plans and goals
  • Draft and edit various communication vehicles such as: news releases, feature stories, pitch angles, newsletters, public service announcements, letters, memos, strategic plans, crisis communication plans, account summaries and brochures, etc.
  • Provides support with media relations, event planning and other tactics as assigned.
  • Updates and maintains media lists for local and national radio, television and newspaper contacts
  • Learn key client information, including business strategy, industry issues, products and services, key customers and competitors
  • Demonstrate the ability to write, edit, and proofread to create high-quality internal and external communications content, including client presentations, press materials, scripts, newsletter articles, opinion editorials, trade features, and social media posts, ensuring high quality and consistency with appropriate writing styles
  • Monitor and report on media coverage

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in mass communications, PR, or related field
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in public relations and/or a related communications field such as journalism, advertising or marketing.
  • Experience in creating media lists, conducting outreach and developing reporting documents
  • Can secure media placements and build media relationships
  • Ability to multitask and work across several different accounts to provide PR support with the team
  • Supports development and management of timelines, reports and research materials
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain calm in high-stress client environments
