We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Manager to join our team. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing various accounting functions and a team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting practice and will possess strong attention to detail and organizational skills. This position reports to the Director of Finance and works closely with the Chief Operating Officer.

Responsibilities:

  • Accounting Issue Resolution: Serve as an escalation point for troubleshooting accounting problems and managing the accounting calendar in partnership with the Director of Finance.
  • Invoice and Expense Management: Track GSA invoices, verify A/P profit and loss reports, and request PO numbers. Verify employee expense reports and A/R and A/P aging reports.
  • Sales Tax: Maintain sales tax registration, assist AR with sales tax filings, and manage sales tax training.
  • Training: Train Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) staff on their responsibilities.
  • Meetings and Reporting: Conduct bi-weekly accounting department meetings, manage sales tax training meetings, and attend company meetings. Handle electronic minority dollar spending reporting and PCI certification filings.
  • Support and Supervision: Oversee AP/AR follow-ups, assist with month-end and year-end closings, and support the Director of Finance with financial activities. Approve AP ACH transactions and provide backup support as needed.
  • Documentation: Maintain technical documentation and the accounting email. Manage the Chart of Accounts with the Director of Finance’s approval.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Accounting Standards: Proficient in GAAP or IFRS and tax regulations.
  • Software Expertise: Experienced with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and ERP systems.
  • Leadership: Experienced in managing teams, delegating tasks, and providing feedback.
  • Attention to Detail: High accuracy in financial reporting and identifying discrepancies.
  • Team Collaboration: Effective in working with others, fostering teamwork, and managing relationships.
  • Ethical Judgment: Committed to ethical financial practices and confidentiality.
  • Project Management: Skilled in managing projects, coordinating resources, and meeting deadlines.

Experience and Education

5 years of accounting experience

1-3 years of supervisory experience
