The Public Relations Account Executive position requires a highly collaborative, energetic and motivated individual who is eager and ready to help our team with media relations, content development and other related communications activities for our healthcare and life sciences clients. The ideal candidate will have a good grasp of the healthcare and/or life sciences landscape, the ability to reach a variety of stakeholders, and a passion for telling impactful stories about our clients’ products/therapies using media relations and social media to drive conversations forward. 

 

This position reports directly to the Associate Director/Director of Public Relations, with a dotted line responsibility to the Vice President/Sr. Vice President of PR.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Has a proven ability to write a variety of communications pieces including messaging, press releases, media pitches, bylined articles and persuasive client communications
  • Demonstrates strategic and tactical knowledge of integrated communications initiatives, and creates PR plans to meet client objectives
  • Represents the agency's clients to the press and public by fielding responses to all media-related inquiries
  • Maintains close ties with key scientific/medical media – both regional and national
  • Develops strong relationships with our clients, and has a thorough understanding of their business strategy, along with competitive industry trends and issues
  • Proactively offers and successfully implements new ideas and solutions to meet client needs, and drives projects 
  • Demonstrates a practical understanding of the digital landscape and social media, and knows how to incorporate them into client programs
  • Generates quarterly and annual PR reports for clients
  • Manages timelines, calendars and overall account support materials
  • Assists in overseeing and mentoring PR coordinator/s
  • Works with content and marketing/creative teams when appropriate

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum 1-3 years experience in the biopharma/bioscience public relations sector — agency experience a plus
  • Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in biology, journalism, communications, or related field
  • Proven ability to interpret complex scientific content and translate this understanding for multiple lay, scientific, patient, and investor audiences
  • Self-starter/self-motivator
  • Ability to multitask and perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Maintain effective working relationships with clients and internal staff
