Job Description: We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Home Health Coder to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely coding of home health services to optimize reimbursement and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review clinical documentation and coding guidelines to ensure accurate ICD-10-CM coding.
- Assign appropriate codes for diagnoses, treatments, and procedures according to coding standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to clarify diagnoses and ensure accurate documentation and drive efficiencies.
- Verify and ensure the completeness of patient records for coding purposes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and industry trends.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance coding accuracy and efficiency.
- Assist with audits and reviews to ensure compliance with coding standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide education and training to staff on coding practices and documentation requirements.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in home health coding.
- In-depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding guidelines and regulations.
- Familiarity with OASIS (Outcome and Assessment Information Set) documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficient in using coding software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
