About the position:

The Director of Product Development, Electronics and Connectivity leads our connectivity and firmware product development team and is responsible for developing and executing the connectivity and firmware product development strategy for the broad spectrum of our products. This position works closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, marketing, and operations, to develop and launch new products and enhance existing ones. This position reports to the Vice President, Product Development, Land Vehicles Americas.


Main responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the engineering strategy for the innovation, connectivity & firmware
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, ensuring that they are motivated, engaged, and empowered to deliver high-quality products and solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that products are developed and launched on time and within budget
  • Define and communicate product requirements, features, and functionality to the engineering team
  • Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team
  • Monitor and report on the progress of engineering projects, ensuring that they meet quality standards and are completed on time and within budget
  • Partner and support broader product development team to develop long-term engineering strategies that align with company goals
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors
  • Ensure that the engineering team adheres to all relevant regulations and standards
  • Monitor and report on the performance of the engineering team, including productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in electrical, mechanical or software engineering; advanced degree preferred
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in engineering, with a track record of delivering successful products to market
  • Increased responsibility of prior management experience
  • Proven ability to develop and execute engineering strategies that drive innovation and product excellence
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed
