ROLE MISSION 

The Sr Process Engineer will report directly to the COO and is entrusted with the mission to lead and inspire technological excellence, propelling ADVANO to the forefront of innovation in the battery materials and energy storage space, with a specific focus on advancing REALSi technologies.  

The mission of this position is to drive development of the REALSi process design to commercial scale using the laboratory and pilot plant equipment as a basis to achieve the Company’s overarching business goals and direction. 

Together, we aim to shape the future of energy storage, providing sustainable and impactful solutions that address the evolving needs of our world and establishing ADVANO as a trailblazer in the dynamic landscape of silicon anode technology. 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Experience in project development using stage gate FEL process. 

  • Lead process improvement projects from conception to implementation, including process design, optimization, and validation. 

  • Analyze existing processes to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and minimize costs. 

  • Provide technical expertise and support to production teams to troubleshoot process issues and optimize performance. 

  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s), Heat and Mass Balance (HMB’s), and Utility Flow Diagrams (UFD’s) for existing and future processes. 

  • Develop and update Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID’s) 

  • Develop and update process control schemes and narratives to achieve safe and efficient operating conditions. 

  • Select, evaluate, and size technology and equipment (pyrolysis kilns. Spray dryers, ball mills, pumps, control valves, piping, etc.) to meet process needs using engineering first principles. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure successful execution of process improvement projects. 

  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in process engineering, and incorporate new technologies and methodologies into existing processes. 

  • Other tasks as assigned by the manager. 

 

  • BS Chemical Engineering Degree required with 5 to 10 years of relevant work experience in a process industry or engineering firm.  

  • Entrepreneurial “out of the box” thinker who is creative, responsive, flexible, and able to productively challenge business paradigms. 

  • Excellent written and oral skills for clarity of technical problems and solutions with succinct delivery to management and line workers alike. 

  • PC skills to include knowledge of MS Office Applications
