Job Details

Position: Cafe Train Attendant (Downeaster)

Location: Brunswick, Maine
starting in Brunswick, the trains travels daily from Brunswick to Boston and back with about an hour layover in Boston for a break.

Sunday 688 Train, 4:45pm-2am
Monday 688 Train, 4:45pm-2am
Tuesday 688 Train, 4:45pm-2am
Wednesday 688 Train, 4:45pm-2am
Saturday 684 Train 10am-7pm

The Cafe Train Attendant reports to the General Manager and is responsible for operations including serving and assisting customers during their train trip from Brunswick, Maine to Boston and back. Duties include but are not limited to serving and assisting customers during the check-out process, managing cash and/or credit transactions, light food prep including grab and go items as well as stocking coolers while maintaining clean and orderly servery/dining areas.

Cafe Train Attendants must have an excellent personality and be comfortable interacting with the public. In addition, the Cafe Train Attendant will be responsible for serving food and beverages, including alcohol while on the train.

This is a front of the house position; exceptional customer service skills with a can-do attitude are a must

Cafe Train Attendant Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for running the point of sale system and assist customers as needed
  • Set up and restock product, displays, coolers and workstations as needed
  • Light food prep and grab and go items
  • Prepare or serve hot or cold beverages including alcohol
  • Transfer supplies or equipment between storage and work areas, by hand or using hand trucks or carts
  • Make sure the customers are being taken care of and the Cafe looks clean and presentable at all times
  • Provide excellent customer service to include being attentive, approachable, greeting and thanking customers entering and exiting the cafe
  • Assist customers by providing information and resolving their concerns
  • In addition, the Cafe Train Attendant works with and takes direction from the General Manager

Cafe Train Attendant Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous food/customer service experience preferably within a corporate dining setting
  • Must be dependable and have excellent customer service skills
  • Must be able to pull and lift up to 40 pounds plus stand for the majority of your shift
  • Must be able to work independently as well as a team player
  • Must be 21 years of age in order to sell alcohol as this is an unsupervised position
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Have schedule flexibility
  • Must have excellent customer service skills - this is a front of the house position


Pay Frequency:

  • Weekly - Direct Deposit
