POSITION SUMMARY

Manage the sales-related activities for the assigned territory (Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota). The primary focus is to increase sales and market penetration at the rate established by the annual business plan goals. Significant business travel is required -75%). ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • At a minimum, this position must meet the corporate and regional sales objectives assigned each year to exceed established expectations.
  • Maintain a regular dialog with the sales executives on your team regarding current competitor conditions in the field.
  • Weekly quotes follow up utilizing CRM (Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Communicate effectively with all departments within the company (production, accounting, marketing, inside sales, etc.) to achieve complete customer satisfaction.
  • 50-75% of time spent working in the field - traveling, attending trade shows & company-sponsored events, and meeting potential distributor customers and contractors.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all customers, vendors, business partners, and co-workers.
  • Manage and assist in trade shows as needed or requested.
  • Identify new business opportunities within the region and communicate these to the team.
  • Proactively look for new product ideas that fit with our current offering.
  • Professionally represent the company at all times.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS

  • Must be highly skilled at building and maintaining customer/business-related partnerships.
  • Must be a driven self-starter capable of working effectively independently and within groups and teams.
  • Knowledge of general sales practices and the skills to execute.
  • Ability to learn the company's product line, pricing practices, and industry standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to analyze data and complete basic math computations.
  • Ability to assess a situation, draw a valid conclusion, and make sound recommendations.
  • Ability to effectively use various computer programs and software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and ERP systems (Enterprise Resource Planning System).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires the ability to travel by car, plane, and other transportation methods (50%).
  • Requires the ability to sit at a workstation, desk, or cube for extended periods during the workday.
  • Requires the ability to properly use various technology/office equipment, including a laptop/computer, cellphone, fax machine, copy machine, postage machine, and any other applicable equipment required for the position.
  • May demand infrequent light physical effort.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • (5) years of previous experience working as an inside sales representative in a technical field or general B2B sales experience helpful.
  • (5) years of outside sales experience. Experience managing a territory or region preferred.
  • A degree in business management, sales & marketing, or related fields is a plus.
  • Technical background in electrical/lighting-related fields is a plus.
