POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Finance / Accounting Intern

SUMMARY:

The finance/accounting intern position will report to and support the Chief Financial Officer and Director of Finance. The position will be responsible for:

  1. Assisting with general ledger accounting and reporting (invoice entry, cash reporting, GL entries, monthly financial reports, month end close, etc.)
  2. Assisting with yearend close to include supporting auditor requests.
  3. Assist with budgeting processes.
  4. Provide other financial/accounting support as needed.
  5. Other duties as assigned to support the mission and values of the company.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

The individual must provide outstanding customer service, providing the best possible service to both internal and external customers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or (GED) required. Individual should be pursuing either a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance. Minimum of two years related experience, with a background in accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, journal entries, and financial statements; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Must demonstrate skills with computer operations with an emphasis on using Microsoft Office applications, and financial reporting systems.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Must be able to prepare reports and business correspondence. Must have effective oral and written communication skills and be able to communicate with staff at all levels.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Able to work with accounting and financial concepts; able to apply those to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time and to work extensively with computers, adding machines, etc. The employee needs to have reasonable mobility.

Because of the extensive use of computers, specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

HOURS/RATE OF PAY:

This will be a 10-15 week internship, no greater than 20 hours per week. Normal hours of operation are 9am-4:30pm, but hours can be flexible. Rate of pay is $15.00 per hour. No additional benefits apply.
