Job Summary: The Payroll Specialist ensures generation and delivery of payroll for all of Wolfgang Puck Fine Dinining & Worldwide locations through the development and implementation of policies and procedures. The Payroll Specialist ensures the payroll function operates in compliance with company policies and procedures, wage & hour laws, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and other applicable requirements. This position supports payroll-related project work, including the integration of softwares, This position is responsible for the assigned payroll processing function focused on continuous process improvement.
Essential Job Functions:
· Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
· Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices, and regulatory changes impacting the payroll process
· Identify and implement procedural changes designed to ensure or improve regulatory compliance, efficiency and accuracy
· Provide support for internal financial reporting, risk reporting, general ledger entries and payroll tax compliance.
· Respond to surveys and field inquiries regarding reporting
· Research and maintain compliance for existing and new market acquisitions in areas such wage and hour, work permits, and garnishments.
· Create and maintain payroll processes, procedures, and recommend / implement improvements to sustain an effectively delivery of payroll
· Ensure timely follow-through on operations and employee request affecting all payroll-related issues
· Maintain documented proof of executed controls and audits
· Act as payroll subject matter expert in cross-functional project teams
· Provide project management for payroll-specific projects as assigned
Desired Skills and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance along with 5+ years of work experience in a high-volume (1,000+ employees) and fast paced multi-state payroll department, in hospitality industry preferred.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
· Extensive knowledge of ADP Workforce Now.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Ability to handle privileged and confidential information
· Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to work effectively and collaboratively across departments.
· Must be able to immediately handle a significant workload and effectively prioritize projects with a high degree of autonomy.
· Must possess effective time management skills with ability to multi-task and work under tight timelines.
· Ability to meet service level commitments.
Physical Requirements: Office environment - physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required, ability to lift and carry a stack of forms and documents weighing up to 20 pounds. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Manual and physical dexterity needed to operate a computer keyboard and handle paper documents. Sufficient near vision acuity to read information appearing on computer display screen, in handwritten forms, and printed on paper. Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone,
Work Conditions: Performing duties and attending events during the evening and on the weekend occurs occasionally and is required. Employee may be exposed to frequent noise caused by telephones, office machines, and nearby oral communications among personnel and/or visitors. Work is primarily indoors, but requires the employee to be in an outdoor environment when traveling between properties located within the Las Vegas valley.
