ABOUT THE ROLE

R&R Partners is seeking a highly skilled Senior Payroll and Benefits Specialist to administer our company's payroll processing, timekeeping, benefits, leaves of absence, and compliance functions. To be successful in this role, you will have extensive experience in end-to-end multi-state payroll processing, the ability to design, build, and administer thoughtful benefit packages, and a comprehensive understanding of labor law and compliance. This is a highly analytical role that requires precision and accuracy.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Payroll
  • Process and manage all aspects of bi-weekly payroll, including time and attendance, benefits, garnishments, reimbursements, deduction calculations, taxes, and reporting while ensuring accurate and timely payroll delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including tax and labor laws.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits.
  • Identify recommendations to scale processes to enhance payroll operational efficiency including the design and implementation of internal controls and maintain payroll policies and procedures.
  • Update, test, and maintain payroll related configuration and tables such as companies, departments, pay groups, pto plans, earnings, deductions, localities, taxation definitions, and time and attendance while ensuring department of labor and company policy compliance.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and timely payroll records, reports, and analytics.
  • Complete all payroll related audits and mandated reporting (401K, workers compensation, unemployment, W-2, wage reporting, quarterly and annual tax filings, CA Pay Data, etc.)
  • Collaborate with People, Accounting, and Legal teams as it relates to payroll, benefits, systems and compliance.
Benefits
  • Plan and manage company-wide benefit plans, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability programs, 401K, FSA, HSA, COBRA, wellness benefits, and others.
  • Evaluate and compare pricing and offerings across potential benefits options to help identify potential innovations or improvements in benefits offerings based on the needs of the business and its employees.
  • Lead the design of benefits-related components of the company's HRIS and ensure processes are established for all transfers of data between the HRIS and benefits providers.
  • Manage and lead Open Enrollment in partnership with the People Team.
  • Promote and administer Wellness Program in partnership with the People Team.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for employees, benefit broker, and benefits-related vendors.
  • Reconcile, monitor, review, and approve benefits-related invoices and coordinate between vendors and Accounting.
  • Administer and track all leaves of absence (i.e. FMLA, ADA, Disability) across the company and serve as the internal point of contact and resource for employees taking an LOA.
  • Track and report on utilization of optional benefits coverages, elections, premiums, and other data to help the company make informed benefits-related decisions.
  • Complete all state and federal mandated benefit testing, filings, and reporting (i.e. ADP/ACP, 1095Cs, 5500s, 4As Industry Reporting).
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required, Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred, other HR certifications are a plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a senior payroll and benefits administrator or in similar roles.
  • Working experience with HRIS & Accounting systems such as Paylocity and Webvantage, is a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of multi-jurisdictional payroll (CA knowledge required), tax-related, and unemployment procedures and laws.
  • Experience managing company-wide benefits programs and administering related payroll procedures.
  • Knowledgeable about legal and compliance obligations relating to leaves of absences (LOAs), wage garnishments, COBRA, withholding, federal and state reporting, and other applicable laws/regulations.
  • Experience completing federal & state mandated reports, supporting audits, and generating internal and external reporting.
  • Confident generating payroll and benefits-related reporting, analyzing data, and responding to related questions.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, time management, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication, math, analytical, administrative, client service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, discretion, trustworthiness, and high ethical standards.
  • Occasional travel required.
