Staff Accountant

The Opportunity This role will be a key asset to the future growth of AFV. The Staff Accountant will be providing financial assistance and support to the Accounting Manager, Controller and accounting and finance team. This requires a solid understanding of both accounting and business operations.
Responsibilities
- Support the month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations and close processes to meet reporting deadlines
- Support or provide detailed analysis of financial results compared to forecast and prior month results/trends
- Preparation of monthly account reconciliations, with variance analysis
- Preparation of monthly tenant invoices, including tenant reconciliations and respond to tenant questions, as needed
- Process accounts payable for multiple entities, interfacing with operations and accounting teams for required approvals
- Preparation of work papers and supporting schedules for annual audits
- Assist with the information required for forecasting and budgeting processes, tax filings, and other requested financial data
- Adherence to internal controls,
- Assist with treasury, tax, AP, billing, and collections functions as required and other duties as assigned
- Assist in the documentation and improvement of accounting processes and policies in conjunction with the Accounting Manager and Controller
- Special projects as needed
Desired Characteristics
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- CPA preferred, but not required
- At least 2-3 years’ experience in accounting in a hands-on accounting role
- Experience with software-as-a-service (SaaS) companies including responsibility for revenue recognition and deferred revenue calculations preferred
- Advanced Excel skills: pivot tables, data manipulation and V-Lookup expertise
- Experience with QuickBooks and/or Yardi preferred
- Strong communication skills
- Leader
