Cleaver Brooks is looking for an experience Controls Engineer to join our team in Lincoln, NE. The Controls Engineer is responsible for coordinating instrumentation and controls engineering support and design efforts on basic projects following established policies and procedures. In this role, you will support the selection and design of all control components to meet the specifications of new control packages.

Job Location: Lincoln, NE

Essential functions:

  • Contribute to the process of solving technical problems;
  • Make and apply suggestions for improvement;
  • Read and correct electrical plans;
  • Proceed with the programming and start-up of programmable logic controller and operator interfaces;
  • Carry out the programming and start-up of power equipment (drive, motors, etc.);
  • Write technical documents and Logical Diagrams, SAMA, narrative reports, etc. .;
  • Assist and support the tests and inspections of the panels;
  • Assist and support the I / O (Input / Output) checks of the PLCs;
  • Configure and test communications (Modbus,…);
  • Manage lists of registers;
  • Assist and support factory acceptance tests.

Other Duties:

Internal Contacts: Regular (15-35%); Frequent communication with co-workers. Communication required as an integral part of everyday tasks.

External Contacts: Less frequent (5-10%); Some communications with department managers and external project managers or project controllers.

Basic Requirements:

Education:

  • Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in industrial automation or equivalent. The training must include courses on programmable logic controllers.
  • Member of OIQ an asset.

Experience:

  • 2-5 years in project control. Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in combustion projects, boilers, heating, or related field.
  • Knowledge of Autocad;
  • Read and interpret electrical and instrumentation diagrams;
  • Program different process control systems using different platforms, mainly Allen-Bradley;
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, etc.);
  • Knowledge of HMI (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, etc.);
  • Experience in automation in general;
  • Experience in commissioning or site experience is an important asset;
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage priorities;
  • Ability to work in French and English (written and oral);
  • Demonstrate autonomy, initiative, accuracy and precision;
  • Ability to respect aggressive schedules, to manage time and pressure constraints;
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision - autonomous;
  • Good sense of initiative;
  • Ability to learn quickly;
  • Excellent ability to work in a team;
  • Availability to travel, up to 40%;
  • Other Duties: As assigned by supervisor

Physical Skill & Effort:

  • Precision, speed, and manual skill required.
  • Few physical efforts required Ability to work in front of a computer for long periods while remaining focused. (Occasionally)

Working Conditions and Hazards:

  • Normal office environment. Shop environment with welding, machining and various manufacturing and assembly operations.
