Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with a range of special needs

  • Utilize a variety of instructional techniques to accommodate different learning styles and abilities

  • Adapt and modify curriculum materials to meet the unique requirements of each student

  • Collaborate with other educators, specialists, and support staff to provide comprehensive educational support

  • Monitor student progress, conduct assessments, and adjust teaching strategies accordingly

  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and social growth

  • Provide regular communication and updates to parents, guardians, and the broader support network

  • Stay current with best practices in special education and incorporate innovative approaches into teaching

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred)

  • Valid Washington State teaching certification with endorsement in Special Education

  • Proven experience working with students with diverse special needs

  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and IEP development

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations
