Job DescriptionJob DescriptionAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced accounting professional who enjoys a fast-paced, high[1]energy, and collaborative team environment. As a direct report to the Controller, theAccounting Manager drives compliant accounting operations for Finance Department. The Accounting Manager is responsible for timely, accurate, and complete financial data and reporting.
Job Type: Temp to hire
Schedule: Full-Time: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm (occasional remote)
Pay: $36/hr.
Location: Honolulu
Essential Duties and Responsibilities• Manage and review day-to-day, month-end, and annual close cyclesencompassing AR/AP, grant management, account reconciliations.• Support Controller with annual external audit and tax engagements; prepare,compile, and review supporting schedules and documentation for audit.• Compile financial statements and prepare budget vs. actual analyses monthly.• Monitor operating cash balances, ensuring adequate funds are available for shortterm operating needs.• Provide oversight, coaching, and workflow management for 2 accountingTeammates.• Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.• Analyze the effectiveness of existing systems and processes to develop andimplement new strategies to increase productivity and alignment with bestpractices.• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or any combination of education andnonprofit financial management experience which would provide the knowledge,skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties of this position.• Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience required; 2 years in a teamleadership capacity preferred.• Work experience inclusive of account reconciliation and journal entry preparationor review, financial statement compilation or review, and financial reportingrequired.• Professional experience within nonprofit sector in an accounting, finance, and/oraudit capacity highly desired.• Working knowledge of Form 990 desired.• Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant license is aplus.
Essential Skills/Knowledge• Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite; advanced proficiency in Excel.• Strong working knowledge of accounting software and financial analysis.• Excellence in all aspects of accounting, internal controls, financial reporting, taxcompliance, and pertinent rules and regulations.• Demonstrated success in identifying and implementing process and/or systemimprovements that yielded significant efficiency gains.• Proven ability to work autonomously in establishing and managing multiplepriorities that best meet the overall needs of the organization.• Genuine team player with an all-hands-on-deck mentality
